SMS 100 Book Challenge

By

Sherwood Middle School congratulates two students for meeting the SMS 100 Book Challenge: Elyse Vargason and Rachel Feenstra.  Even though they had until June 1, 2019 to read 100 books, both of these eighth graders finished reading 100 books in September. Rachel attributes her success to being able to find books she likes to read.  “I would say that I got through the books by always finding books that were up my alley. I think it would have been a lot harder if I didn’t like the books and I would find these books through friends or look at different books by an author whom I liked. My favorites were probably Everyday,   Everything, Everything,  The Fault in our Stars, and Sarah’s Key.”  Elyse agrees with Rachel that finding the right book is key. “My motivation was to keep my academics up and also because I knew that I could do it in the time that I was given, so I wanted to challenge myself and get it done in the summer.” Elyse’s favorite books were the Mr. Lemoncello’s library series because they were mysteries.   Both students received a certificate and prize for finishing first and will be a part of SMS’s  end-of-the-year celebration of the 100 Book Challenge finishers. Congratulations, again, to Elyse Vargason and Rachel Feenstra.
